Ruth Childre of  San Antonio  Texas has specialized in painting out-of doors. Her landscapes portray the beautiful Hill Country of Texas, and the little streams and rivers that make it a favorite vacations spot.

"I am at heart a landscape painter. It is my first love, and especially, I love water - any kind, but moving is my favorite. Perhaps it is the freedom of movement, unrestrained, unfettered, that attracts. And I try to paint that with which I am familiar, the Hill Country around San Antonio, although I enjoy sketching new country also."

Mrs. Childre interest in subject matter also encompasses street scenes, floral and an occasional still life. "I enjoy painting all the things I find about me - simple, ordinary things."

John Furr is a native Texan who enjoys photography. Inspired by the works of Ansel Adams, he has made his primary focus the creation of strong, passionate photographs. During his trips to France, Germany, Canada, Cayman Islands, Honduras and El Salvador, John has photographed the classic images you will see in his gallery. His latest "photographic jaunt" was a train ride through Alaska.

John's photographs are reproduced on a textured surface to create the illusion of canvas. They are available in 16" x 20" metal frames. We know you will find his intriguing style to be a rewarding addition to your collection.

Lynn Rutland, a transplanted Oklahoman, now resides in San Antonio. From early childhood she had an avid interest in communication - particularly the written word and all of the diverse ways of writing words. Her interest in handwriting kept her riveted during those long school hours in the 1950's. She spent most of her time creating and practicing the fine art of handwriting.

She began studying art  related subjects in middle school. Throughout college she pursued her interest in the written word and the skill of communication as an English major with a Psychology minor - eventually switching the two and graduating with a degree in Psychology.

After college she began to actively pursue a personal study of calligraphy. Lynn  has been a commercial calligrapher for over 30 years. She is also a member of the San Antonio Calligraphers Guild. Recently she has started teaching calligraphy classes at San Antonio Arts and Letters.

Lynn has since retired and is referring all her work to Thea Moore at 210- 824-8828.
